Not all riders are hiding from the dark and cold weather; reports show that some are still racing. Laura Cheeseman has been clocking up the miles on the bike and in the car. She has raced at both Calshot Velodrome and Hillingdon road race circuit in the past two weeks. Jack Hoyle has also been spotted in the Hillingdon results Both Laura and Jack managed second place in their races there; well done to them both. Brock Duncumb was also racing with the Elites, firsts and seconds at Hillingdon over the Christmas period in between snow falls. For those new to cycling and unsure of these terms ‘Elites, firsts and seconds’ are the fast riders so Brock has taken a big step up. However as we have no Junior [16 to 18 year old] racers in the club Brock is now joining the Crawley based club One Life Development Squad so that he can race as part of a team in races such as the National Series and road events in Belgium.
Winter cyclo-cross training has proved to be very popular with regular attendances of between 20 and 30 riders come rain and snow. One evening was cancelled due to heavy snow whilst another was completed as the first snow fall started. These sessions come to an end in two weeks and soon after Saturday mornings start, followed shortly by Friday track sessions. Spring, just round the corner?
