Membership

Membership runs from March each year, which is the start of our club season and all memberships run from March 1st for one year.

Annual membership fees must be paid by 1st March each year. New members joining after 1st March pay full price until to 31st August, or 50% reduction after Sept 1st. Our current membership costs were substantially reduced in 2022 in response to the cost of living crisis and these prices are being retained for the foreseeable future.

  • £15 – Individual member
  • £5 – Additional family member (siblings or adults)
  • £5 – Second claim member (for riders already in another British Cycling or British Triathlon affiliated club)
  • FREE – adult membership for club coaches and committee members

Saturday coached sessions are £4 per rider, payable on the day by card or cash. Club membership is required for insurance purposes to join in the session, however trial members are covered by our club insurance while they are deciding whether to join.

Information for new joiners

Step 1: Attend a taster session

The club holds introductory sessions for prospective members. These are typically held every few months on a Saturday morning and allow groups of prospective members to give the club a try and decide if they would like to become a regular member.

We do not operate a waiting list. Taster sessions are advertised on our website and social media, so you can either subscribe to our website news feed or follow us on Facebook or Twitter and look out for notifications which will contain a link to a booking page. Bookings are then made on a first come, first served basis.

We accept new members from the year of their 8th birthday and they must be able to ride their bike without stabilisers.

Taster sessions are free of charge.

Step 2: Join British Cycling (or British Triathlon)

All members need to join a National Governing Body, either British Cycling or British Triathlon, as membership includes personal liability insurance which we consider a necessary requirement for club membership.

British Cycling membership is free for new members for the first year.

Step 3: Join Preston Park Youth CC

New members may join once they have received a membership invitation following participation in a taster session. Upon invitation to become a club member please:

  1. Go to our British Cycling club membership page
  2. Join the club and make your membership payment.

On the joining page, select “Second Claim Member” if you are already a member of a different cycling or triathlon club, and wish to also join PPYCC in order to attend our club sessions. This allows you to join at a reduced rate, keeping costs down for families with young people in multiple clubs!

Important note for British Triathlon members: British Triathlon members cannot compete at British Cycling races (or vice versa) but will be fine to attend PPYCC club sessions. You will be asked to send a photo of your membership card showing member name and expiry date to membership@ppycc.org.uk in order to have your membership approved.

If membership costs are a barrier to your participation then please do contact membership@ppycc.org.uk to discuss further and we will come to an arrangement that works for you.
