We hope you’ve all had a good Winter despite COVID and the lockdown. Finally we’ve got lots of good news to share !
Following Monday’s announcement on the relaxation of COVID lockdown measures , we’re happy to confirm that we plan to restart the PPYCC club sessions at Preston Park on Saturday 3rd April. We’re still awaiting guidance from British Cycling regarding group sizes etc and we’ll provide more details in further posts over the next year few weeks. In the meantime if you haven’t used your bike much during the winter now’s the time to get it out , checked and ready to ride.
Having discussed the restart of activities with our Regional British Cycling coaches we also expect Regional Go-Ride and Development Centres for road and track to restart from 29th March so please keep and eye out on British Cycling South East social media for updates.
Additionally, circuit and track racing is expected to recommence at some point in April, and for riders 12yrs+ CTT have confirmed that time trials can commence from 29th March. For details of events and entry check British Cycling and CTT websites.
We also have some great rider news to share. Dylan Hicks has been selected to join Team GB Cycling Team Junior Academy. This is a fantastic achievement and something Dylan’s worked hard towards for a number of years.
Dylan explained … “Next year I am going to be riding for a junior team based in Belgium called Isorex. I thought Isorex were a good choice as they have a very large race Calendar with some very good races. I also have been selected for the Great British Cycling team Junior Academy which means I spend a lot of my time at the velodrome in Manchester training for team pursuit and other sorts of races such as the omnium. I am also hoping to get some decent international road races this season representing Team GB.” We wish Dylan great success as leaves the club as a youth rider and moves onto junior racing. It’s probably not the last you’ll see of Dylan, he’ll still be coming down to the track when he’s got time and hopes to take his BC Level 1 coaching course this year.
Also, Luke Goodwill has been selected to join Team GB Cycling Team Guest Apprentice Scheme for the 2021 season. Congratulations Luke.
Hopefully great inspiration for our younger riders for what we hope will be a great year of riding and racing.
So, get those bikes ready and we look forward to seeing you all soon !
