Distance challenge tomorrow

Tomorrow will be our first Distance Challenge of the season for both Inner Ring and Outer Ring sessions, on road bikes.

For those who haven’t taken part in a Distance Challenge before it’s a time trial on the track where we set the riders off individually at 30 second intervals and they complete a set number of laps, depending on age group, in as short a time as possible. It gives riders a useful benchmark to track their progress over time, and counts towards our Most Improved Rider awards for the end of season. Previous results and more information are available on our Distance Challenge web page.

Tri-bars are allowed, but riders must not ride in a bunch during warm-up or warm-down if they choose to use them.

Please just turn up to your usual session and the coaches will organise things from there. Distances are as follows:

U8 (born 2015/16) – 6 laps

U10 (2013/14) – 12 laps

U12 (2011/12) – 18 laps

All Outer Ring riders – 10 miles (27.75 laps)

The weather forecast is looking sunny tomorrow and the wind should have dropped so conditions will be right for some good times. Please make sure riders have a drink, snack and sun screen. Adults and youth volunteers please do make yourselves known to the coaches if you are able to help with lap counting, thank you!
