Distance challenge tomorrow

Just 2 weeks of the season left so tomorrow we will do our final distance challenge of the year at both Inner Ring and Outer Ring sessions.

For those who haven’t taken part in a Distance Challenge before it’s a time trial on the track where we set the riders off individually at 30 second intervals and they complete a set number of laps, depending on age group, in as short a time as possible.

U8 (born 2014 and younger) – 6 laps

U10 (born 2012, 2013) – 12 laps

U12 (born 2010, 2011) – 18 laps

All Outer Ring riders – 10 miles

Remember this is an individual time trial and not a bunch race, so slipstreaming is not allowed. It’s a hard activity but it gives riders a useful benchmark to track their progress against over time, PLUS it allows us to calculate our Most Improved Riders for the end of season awards. So after tomorrow, we will churn through the data and decide who wins the silverware, to be presented at the AGM/Awards on Sat 12th November! Previous results are available on our Distance Challenge page, just click the link to the Inner Ring or Outer Ring sheet depending on which session you attend.

The weather forecast is looking ok tomorrow but please bring a waterproof just in case of showers, along with the usual drink and snack. Any parents who are able to assist with either track sweeping or lap counting, please make yourself known at sign-on, thanks very much as always!
