Return to Saturday morning sessions on 4th July

British Cycling have given the go-ahead for coached youth sessions to start up again so we are planning to restart Saturday morning sessions on 4th July, please mark it in your calendars!

There will be some major changes which will make the sessions feel very different from before in areas like bike checks, rider briefing, smaller coaching group sizes, arrival and departure procedures, first aid provision, advance online booking and cashless payments.

Detailed session instructions will be circulated to all members during week commencing 22 June. Rest assured that we are all working to make our return to the track a safe and fun experience not just for riders, but for volunteers, coaches and parents too. If we identify any risks that we don’t feel can be safely managed then we will postpone opening until we are happy that it is safe enough to do so.

All being well, we hope to see you on the 4th!

Coronavirus update: No club activity until after 04 July (updated BC Guidance)

British Cycling has extended the suspension of authorised cycling activity until the 4th July. Many of you may have seen the BC communications which came out this week, please see the British Cycling page below for full details. In summary, national races are suspended until 1st September, regional races and non-competitive events until 1st August, and club/group activity until 4th July.

British Cycling update on suspension of cycling activities (updated 27 May)

Saturday sessions will hopefully return after this date, although with some changes to safeguard riders, parents and volunteers. PPYCC are in regular contact with the BC regional team to discuss how activities and racing can be safely phased back in when appropriate, we will issue further guidance when appropriate.

Please continue to follow the BC advice on how the government’s guidance impacts cycling. By following the advice you are helping to secure our collective right to ride outdoors, continue to protect the NHS and save lives.

Remember that there are also lots of ways you can remain active at home. See our page on Staying Active for things you can do at home!

Coronavirus update: No club activity until after 30 June (updated BC Guidance)

British Cycling has cancelled all authorised cycling activity until the 30th June. The government issued updated guidelines on exercising in mid-May so please see the British Cycling page below which details what these guidelines mean for cycling.

British Cycling updated guidance on Covid-19 (updated 12 May)

The existing guidance about group riding is still that we must NOT ride in groups. You can exercise alone, with those you live with or with up to one person from outside your household (maintaining 2m distance at all times). Please follow the advice, as by doing so you are helping to secure our collective right to ride outdoors, protect the NHS and save lives.

If you’re not comfortable going out riding just yet, remember that there are lots of ways you can remain active at home. See our page on Staying Active for things you can do until the quarantine period is over and also see PPYCC Events for May for things going on this month!
