Just a final note on the AGM and Awards for next Saturday. It’s a 3pm start and will finish by 5.30pm. Here’s what’s happening…
Elections
The AGM part usually takes no more than 30 minutes, this will include short reports from the Chair and Treasurer followed by the election of committee members. We recognise that this is the boring bit for younger members so we will aim to rattle through it pretty quickly.
The three Officer roles being elected are Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. Existing officers Mark Aberdour and Andy Neale are standing for re-election as Chair and Secretary respectively. Richard Scarott is standing down as Treasurer at end of the financial year (end of Feb 24) and the whole committee would like to thank Richard for his significant contribution to the club. Kevin Phillips will be standing for Treasurer.
The additional Management Committee roles being elected are Membership Secretary, Welfare Officer and Deputy Welfare Officer. Daisy Leitch is standing for re-election in the Membership role and Claire Wheller and Jessamy Hibberd are standing for re-election as Welfare Officers.
Membership of the committee is open to all parents and guardians of our youth members, or others who are deemed interested in furthering the work of the club. If anyone is interested in standing for any of these committee positions then please feel free to contact me for an informal chat via chair@ppycc.org.uk. Job shares are always very welcome to help share the load so don’t worry if someone already occupies a position that you might like to help with.
Fun stuff
Following the election we have a variety of fun activities led by various members of the coaching and volunteering team, and of course the award presentations!
Cycling quiz – we will test your cycling knowledge with prizes for the winners.
Updates from the coaching team – an update about achievements beyond the track such as regional and national race performances from PPYCC riders, and what some of our ex-members have been doing since moving on from PPYCC.
Raffle – Tickets are £1 each or £5 a strip. There are prizes galore as always. A huge thanks to PPYCC founder and coach Anthony Rogers who made a generous donation of cycling kit, accessories and wheel overhaul vouchers from True Wheels.
Awards presentation with over 40 medals, 10 trophies/shields and numerous skills certificates which collectively recognise the amazing achievements of our riders. This year for the first time we are also presenting the SCRL Track League Youth Minor and Youth Major awards during the PPYCC presentations, so we have a LOT of medals to hand out!
As always some lucky awards winners also get framed jerseys to take home for the year, and we are very grateful to have received five additional jerseys to hand out this year from Felix English (Team Ireland at Tokyo Olympics and Glasgow 2019 World Cup), Dylan Hicks (Team DSM), Lukas Nerurkar (Trinity Racing Team) and Francesca Selva (Team Italy).
Discounted kit shop with new PPYCC club kit at a 20% DISCOUNT. Please note that we are running low on some sizes as we are now running stock down prior to doing an order with a new supplier in early 2024.
Loads of free second hand gear. We have summer gear, winter gear and loads of pairs of cycling shoes. All completely free and we could really use reducing some of this stock so please take what you need.
And of course we’ll have a well stocked kitchen for all your tea and cake needs. Please do consider donating a homemade cake if you are able, please just bring it with you on the day.
All proceeds raised from the raffle, club kit and kitchen will go to the club. If you have your own bike for sale, you’re welcome to bring it along and find a space for it, but please be aware that the club cannot take responsibility for the security of bikes for sale.
The SCRL AGM and Senior Awards will follow at 5.30 for those sticking around.
We look forward to seeing you next weekend!
