Time Trials

While we do Distance Challenges as part of our training at the track, PPYCC members are also able to compete in competitive time trials. These events are organised by Cycling Time Trials (CTT), not by British Cycling, and have their own rider rules and regulations. Riders aged 12 and above may compete in CTT events, but they are mostly held on open roads.

Normally, our riders who are keen on this discipline compete in open road TTs from Youth A (U16), when they are completely confident riding on their own in busy, fast moving traffic. For all other youth riders, there are some closed road youth TT events, the main Sussex location for this is at Goodwood. Hill Climbs also typically fall under CTT events, these hill climbs are safer for younger riders as they are on quiet lanes, and also sometimes on closed roads. Search for all CTT events at https://events.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/

PPYCC has a number of affiliations for competitive time trialling.

PPYCC is CTT affiliated. All time trials and hill climbs are administered by Cycling Time Trials (CTT). You will need to be a member of a CTT affiliated club in order to enter an “Open” event (unless it is a “Club” event designated as ‘Come and Try It’). You will then select PPYCC from the club list when entering a TT. PPYCC has its own CTT Club Page, with all of our rider results. These results can also be found on the ResultSheet PPYCC Club Page which is more useful as it also shows the event distance.

PPYCC is a member of the London South Time Trials. All CTT events are organised into Districts, and Sussex lies within the district called London South, containing East and West Sussex, Kent and those pats London south of the Thames. The district has its own organisation (chair, secretary, etc), its own Events Listing and its own website: www.londonsouthdc.org.uk

PPYCC is a member of Sussex Cyclists Association. They run the Sussex TT Championships (which includes a Youth category) and they also manage the Sussex competition records (including Youth records). https://www.sussexca.org.uk/
