Yesterday [Saturday 1st May] saw members Jack Hoyle, Laura Cheesman, Gabriel Parle, Douglas McCauley and second claim member Jack Oliver Blaney racing at the Portsmouth round of the Southern Omnium series. It was a great day for all the riders to build on the training they have been doing prior to this, the first of four omnium races. All riders performed well and there were notable improvements from past performances by Laura and Jack OB.
A huge congratulation must go to Jack Hoyle who won the very competitive Under 14 category by 1 point in the final race.
The top eight riders in each age category [Youth C, B and A only] who score best from three counting events get an invitation to the national omnium final. Jack has made a great start to this.
Today [Sunday 2nd May] saw members Cory Anderson, Noah Ridgeway Brown, Thomas Burnett, Spencer Thomas, Kit Braithwaite, Jack Hoyle and Jack OB at the BSCA National Track Championships, also at Portsmouth. The racing started for the Youth E, D and C but had not commenced for older riders due to the rain. We wait to hear further news on the outcome of the day.
Elsewhere on the Isle of Man ex-member Felix English won the third stage of the junior competition, having already come second in the prologuee. A report of this can be read on the front of the BC website. News and results can be seen for other local riders using the links on that page.
