Isle of Man Youth Tour race report

The bank holiday saw 265 cyclists descend on the Isle of Man for the Youth Tour of Isle of Man. This is one of the highlights of the National Youth Series and sees the best riders across the UK attend. Three riders flew the PPYCC flag, Felix, Eddy and Noah across the two stage race. The first stage was competed in miserable conditions on a hilly route. Felix in his first National level race came in a very impressive 9th place. Eddy and Noah then joined 57 riders in the U16 and came in 12th and 22nd respectively in a very high caliber field of riders.

The second stage on Day 2 was a flat fast course which limited the chance for attacks. Felix managed to consolidate his top 10 position avoiding crashes and ended up 8th on GC. The U16’s saw a rapid four 10 km laps averaging 44kph across the distance. Eddy suffered a puncture as he positioned for the final sprint but was fortunately in the 1km end zone so was provided a neutralized time and Noah rolled in with the bunch, so both retained their impressive 12th and 22nd GC positions at the close of the day.

Noah said that ‘this was a great event to experience a proper road race on closed roads with all the outriders of cars and motorbikes adding to an enjoyable weekend’.
