We recently received this message from the organisers of the Brompton World Championships Cycling Festival which takes place this weekend at Goodwood Motor Circuit near Chichester. The organisers have agreed that if you take your Preston Park YCC British Cycling membership card your parents can access the festival free. Children are free to enter in any case. If you turn up be sure to look for coaches Anthony and Alison who are racing in a team with Brighton Excelsior members Mark Emsley and Zak Corum Haines.
“I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to get in touch and alert you to the Brompton Cycling Festival, which will be taking place on Sunday 27th July at Goodwood Motor Circuit, West Sussex. This will consist of a day-long festival celebrating all things British and Cycling, with numerous races and fixtures throughout the day.
Goodwood are surrendering their track for a day to host the infamous Brompton World Championship, a typically madcap affair featuring a Le Mans style start and elaborate outfits from all contestants, as well as the ICE Trikes recumbent bike race and test track. Beyond the races is the bike expo and event fair, where you can browse the latest cycling accessories and sports suppliers or sample local Sussex delicacies. To keep spectators entertained are numerous children’s activities and the picnic area, where you can relax with a summer cocktail or cold beer on the Goodwood lawn to watch the races. To follow on from the success of last year’s Festival we are keen to engage more with the local community and help foster good relations between riders from all backgrounds and at all levels. With this in mind we wanted to offer Preston Park members 10 free spectator passes to come down and enjoy the day – these would be for accompanying adults as under-16s already have free entry – and would include access to the grounds and all the festival elements. However you preferred to proffer these would be fine, and if you wished to use the Festival as a club run destination or something similar I’d be happy to discuss further discounts should you require more.
