We are pleased to report that, hot on the heels of track success for several of our members this week, Joseph Martin beat off tough competition from the whole South East, London and Eastern Triathlon regions to win the first big triathlon qualifier of the year. In a race with a field of 31 athletes, Joseph completed the fastest cycling leg to overtake the  the previous leader who was first out of the water in the swim. He continued in the lead to the finish of the running leg, though this was a bit closer than he’d hoped for as the other athletes were catching up quickly at the end. Most impartial spectators would consider a winning margin of around ten seconds comfortable, but for friends and family the final moments played out with drama as the lead increasingly diminished. However success ultimately belonged to Joseph.
