PPYCC New Season Letter 2010
February 2010.
Dear Members,Parents and Carers,
I am writing to remind you that the start of the new cycling year is upon us and it is time to join up for another fun summer of cycling. Cycling at Preston Park starts on Saturday 6th March 2010. Please note we have introduced a few new ways of doing things so please read to the bottom of the page.
Last year saw PPYCC club membership grow considerably; indeed as a result of this growth we won the Wells Cundall Cup and so are the British Cycling ‘Club of the Year.’ We won this accolade by being the Go Ride club with the highest growth nationally in under-18 memberships, something we are delighted to announce! This award adds to both last year’s awards of Brighton and Hove Sports Club of the Year Award and Sussex Sports Coach of the Year and leaves us starting the new season proud of our achievements and raring to continue in the same vein.
For new members: to join PPYCC you must first join British Cycling, the sport’s national governing body. This gives 3rd Party insurance, cheaper entry to many races and the pleasure of supporting our athletes at events like the Olympics in London. You can join British Cycling by clicking the correct button below. New Youth and Under 12 BC members get free membership in the first year. Specify your club as PPYCC and your membership card will be sent to Anthony Rogers who will pass it on to you.
For existing members: if you are already a club member then you will need to renew your BC membership in order to be eligible to race the 2010 season. If you are not going to race then you can renew your BC membership when it lapses. In both cases you need to update your personal details using the link below.

Advice and information for getting the most out of your session
· Arrive at 09.45 to allow for a 10.00 prompt start. If you arrive late we cannot guarantee helping you to get a bike from the containers until the break.
· Session rates for members will be £2.50 and £4 for non-members.
· If you have specialist cycling shoes and the session is at Preston Park you must bring trainers to enable you to join in all the activities. Please note that many cycle specific shoes are not designed for safe walking or running.
· Bring a snack, drink and clothing which keeps you protected from wind, sun and temperature extremes. Note cycling tends to be a cold sport.
· A helmet must be worn whenever cycling a bike.
