We’ve received some fantastic news from PPYCC rider Dylan Hicks this weekend. Dylan has been selected for the Great Britain Cycling Team as an endurance apprentice! Riders across all age groups will know Dylan well as he has competed in track and road cycling for PPYCC since aged 10 and still regularly helps out on Saturday mornings as a coaching volunteer.
Dylan writes, “After a strong finish to last season and some good results and performances in the New Year I have been selected to join the Great Britain Cycling Team (GBCT) as an endurance apprentice for the 2020 season. I had been a guest on the programme since December but having now formally joined I am attending regular training days and weekend training camps with British Cycling coaches in various locations, including the National Cycling Centre in Manchester. I also have my weekly training programme set and monitored by a dedicated British Cycling coach. I have set myself a goal to win a national title in 2020 and to continue to develop my cycling with the aim of achieving a place in the GBCT Junior Academy in 2021. I know this will be really challenging, especially in my GCSE year, but I am determined to give it a go.”
Dylan has an exciting year ahead and some great goals. On the track he will be targeting the National Youth Track Championships, qualification for the National Youth Track Omnium Final as well as London Youth Track League at Lee Valley. On the road Dylan will be racing in the National Road Circuit series (London, Yorkshire, Isle of Man, Lancashire, Wales and the Midlands) and selected road races in Belgium in the Spring.
All at PPYCC wish Dylan every success for the season ahead!
