The first weekend of social distancing also saw gorgeous blue skies all weekend for the first time in what feels like many months! We hope you all managed to have an active and healthy time as possible while staying safely out of harms way. The current government advice is that keeping active remains important and so long as you follow the relevant guidance with regards to social distancing and hygiene, you CAN still go out on your bike but currently only alone or with a member of your household. PPYCC will continue to follow British Cycling and Government advice in this respect. We can no longer encourage a WhatsApp group to organise riding companions as this no longer meets government guidelines. Meanwhile, here are some other ideas for how you might like to remain active in the coming weeks and months.
Exercising at home
PPYCC is affiliated with Sport England through the Clubmark scheme. Sport England have an excellent page of resources about staying active at home from running programmes and indoor workouts to fun activities for active kids.

PPYCC roller loans
PPYCC have a number of rollers that we can loan for free to club members while we are in this challenging period. They will all need returning when the racing season resumes as we normally keep them at the track so our riders can warm up and warm down at SCRL track league. We currently have 6 rollers which are all adjustable to fit junior-sized bikes. Note that roller riding is a skill which takes time and patience to learn, however it is a great skill to master, is good fun and fantastic for developing balance and pedalling style.
Email chair@ppycc.org.uk if you would like to borrow one of these. If you have already access to rollers or a turbo trainer from another family member them please arrange to share theirs, we would rather these go to riders who would not otherwise have an opportunity to cycle at home during this period.

British Cycling Zwift sessions
British Cycling Talent Development team have partnered with Zwift to offer Tuesday night development sessions and Thursday night racing sessions. These have been opened up to ALL U14/U16 club members.
Also as part of this series, GB Cycling Team Zwift Endurance Rides are taking place on Sunday mornings. These are open to EVERYONE regardless of age and ability and are an opportunity to chat to Academy riders and Olympic hopefuls!
All the Zwift events can be found on the British Cycling Talent Development Zwift Events page and at British Cycling Virtual Rides.
