Who are we?

Feb 26th, 2008 by Anthony Rogers

Preston Park Youth Cycle Club is Brighton and Hove’s only cycle club specifically for young people. We run a programme of activities throughout the year, weekly from March to October (inclusive) and fortnightly in the winter months. We are based at Preston Park cycle track, where most summer sessions take place, though we only visit other venues in the winter. Our sessions run from 09.00 or 10.00 [age dependent] on Saturday mornings and last two hours. The sessions are aimed at developing members cycling skills in a safe setting through instruction, racing and games. Those that like racing can try track and road racing in the summer and cyclo-cross and mountain biking in the winter. For those who just like to ride their bikes without the furious effort of racing we have a host of other activities too.All sessions are supervised by qualified British Cycling coaches with the help of parents and friends of club members. Prospective members should arrive at the club being able to ride their bikes with a helmet, a drink and a snack. We are a ‘Go Ride’ club which means that we are recognised by British Cycling, the national cycling body, as reaching certain minimum standards. See www.go-ride.org.uk for further information.A brief history of Preston Park
