T.o.B. Report

Last Saturday saw perfect weather for the Youth Racing Event, arranged by British Cycling, on the finish line of Stage 7 of the 2014 Tour of Britain.

37 PPYCC and VC Jubilee riders participated in the competition, with skills races for the U8’s and U10’s, and an exciting Italian Pursuit for the U12, U14’s and U16’s.  The skills course was challenging, and the results very close between the teams, but VC Jubilee took the gold in the U8’s, whilst PPYCC gained gold in the U10’s!

The older riders formed 4 composite groups of 5, with different age groups and club riders making up each team. The Italian Pursuit was completed on a 100m course, with 2 tight hairpin bends, which made  for some exciting, and very close, racing. The final was won by the Purple Team, comprising of Joe Hill. Sam Buchanan, Eliana Harrison, Josh Golliker and Elliott Vincent, after a very fast sprint to the finish line, the riders separated only by milliseconds!

All the riders received their medals and applause on the T.o.B. podium, going behind the scenes like the professionals!! Riders also received exclusive T.o.B. t-shirts from British Cycling, commemorating the event.

Afterwards, riders and families stayed for the final sprint of the Stage, and many also got to spend time in the Sky bus, meeting the professional riders and asking questions, what a perfect end to a fantastic day!!

A very big thank you to everyone who took part, you all made it a day to remember!!
