Welcome to Preston Park Youth Cycling Club’s website:

Our club has Club Mark status, the quality assurance standard for community sports clubs and won the British Cycling Club of the Year Award for 2009 having had the greatest expansion in youth members of all cycle clubs throughout the country. In recent times we were also Club of the Year at the Brighton and Hove City Sports Awards. One of our coaches, Anthony Rogers, was the winner of the 2008 Sussex Coach of the Year award capping a very good year for the club. More recently, in August 2010, member Jack Hoyle, became Under 14 National Track Champion which is a major feat with the strength of youth cycling in the UK. Our club caters for members aged at 8 to 18 years, though we have some older and younger members.

We meet between March and October the club, typically at Preston Park Cycle Track, every Saturday between 10 and 12 AM. The club also meets less often during the winter months. Please check our club calendar to confirm details of our next club session.

Membership is FREE when you join British Cycling and club session rates are £2.50 for British Cycling members and £4 for non members. We provide fun, skills and competitive cycling activities with fully qualified coaches at Preston Park Cycle Track. Occasionally the club travels away from Brighton for racing and or family and other events. For these types of events, there may be additional costs. Jack Hoyle is Under 14 National Track Champion

A huge congratulations to Jack Hoyle who became National Track Champion at Newport Velodrome last Friday. Jack was competing in the Youth B Boys Omnium. Jack gained his national title by a very spirited and skilled display of track riding. Of the four events he won the 2km pursuit by just one hundreth of a second. He went on to come second in the sprint, despite being boxed in on the final straight, fourth in the scratch and first in the final event the 500m timetrial. Jack is our first British Cycling National Champion but we hope to see more in the future.

Help needed: PPYCC Cyclo-Cross race 26th September

We promote two large events each year, our omnium and our cross race. The cross race is on 26th September at Happy Valley recreation ground in Woodingdean. We would like our members to take part in the youth racing [which starts at 11.00] and we are very much in need of help from parents. Help can be time defined into early morning [8.30 to 10.00] setting up the course, mid-morning marshaling [10.30 to 12.00], afternoon marshaling [12.45 to 14.15], clearing away [14.00 to 15.00]. Other help can include: baking cakes, counting riders laps or dogsbody. You are welcome to opt for a single session job or join us for what should be a very pleasant day. Pedal in the Park - Motor Neurone Disease Association Fundraising event

We would like to give you early warning of our final Saturday session of the 2010 season [30th October]. We always like to put on something special and this year it is a charity fundraiser for the MNDA. We will be cycling from Lands End to John O Groats and back in one day and all on the track!5000 laps will need a lot of support and you can see how you can contribute by reading the details from the link to the Pedal in the Park press release.
